The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The world as we know it is changing. Ocean levels are rising, coastal cities are sinking. Yet such is the nature of humans and our fellow beings, we do our best to adapt. These people and Polar Bears aren't quite sure if they're having a good time. This scene is based on South Beach, Miami. The slanted horizon gives a slightly floaty and seasick feeling. It's somewhat mitigated by the line of clouds on the horizon, which is actually level.
About Holly Wood
I live and work in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My perception of things is expressed in a narrative, story-telling form. The style is cartoon-influenced, yet painterly; sometimes refined, sometimes crude. In recent years I have been moving toward a more Cartoon-Realist approach. I want a simpler look, where I can get the utmost expression out of each line, and each brushstroke expresses energy. My influences range from the scenes of everyday life pictured in the margins of medieval manuscripts, Late Medieval and early Renaissance art, Indian narrative folk painting, classic European Surrealism, Latin American Fantastic Realism and Mexican Social Commentary, comics and graphic novels.
